Terms of Service
Last updated: PLACEHOLDER – date. These terms are between you and Pat Rhoads, operating as Bedtime By Name ("Bedtime By Name"), PR Operations, PO Box 1361 Okotoks Stn Main, Okotoks, AB T1S 1B3, Canada.
The service
We send one personalised bedtime story per night by text message or email, at the time you choose, for you to read to your child. You must be 18 or older and the child's parent or legal guardian.
Free trial and price
New families get a 7-night free trial. After that, the service is CA$9.99 per month, billed monthly by Stripe until you cancel. The free trial needs no card and costs nothing. PLACEHOLDER – whether GST is included or added once registered. If we change the price we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead PLACEHOLDER – confirm notice period.
Cancellation and refunds
- Free trial: the 7-night free trial needs no card and costs nothing. If you don't subscribe, the stories simply stop after night 7.
- Cancel any time: from the settings link on any story page ("Manage or cancel your subscription"), by replying STOP to a text, by using an unsubscribe link, or by emailing hello@bedtimebyname.ca.
- Cancelling stops the next charge. You won't be billed again. Your subscription stays paid up until the end of the month you've already paid for. If you cancel from your settings link, stories keep arriving until then. Replying STOP or unsubscribing stops messages right away (as the law requires), and billing still ends at the end of the paid month.
- No partial refunds: we don't refund part of a month you've already paid for.
- Nothing in this policy limits any rights you have under Alberta consumer protection law or other laws that apply to you.
AI-written stories
Stories are written by an AI system (OpenAI) following child-safety rules and checked automatically, but no check is perfect. Please read the story first if you're unsure, and use "Report this story" if anything is wrong. Stories are for entertainment only and make no health or sleep claims.
Messages
Texts are sent via Twilio and emails via Zoho ZeptoMail. Message frequency: one story per night plus occasional account messages. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop, HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Your stories
Your family may use and print your stories for personal, non-commercial use. Please don't post story links publicly.
Liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last 3 months PLACEHOLDER – confirm with legal review.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
